[3/4] ARM: DaVinci: DM646x Video: Add VPIF display driver
Commit Message
Display driver for VPIF
Adds the VPIF display driver and the associated header file.
The patch includes the review comments on the RFC sent earlier.
The major updates are:
- change in the name of the file.
- moved the platform related data to the platform specific files.
- changed the subdev calls to subdev_call_until_err
Signed-off-by: Chaithrika U S <chaithrika@ti.com>

Why not set it directly in the querycap function? That way everything is
in one place.

inline for such a large function?

No need for parenthesis here. It can be removed elsewhere as well as this
is not the only place where it is done. I know, it's nitpicking.

Ditto here. See also my comment at the definition of this macro.

General note: wouldn't it be better to turn this part of the 'if'
and the 'else' below into two separate functions called from here?
It's a pretty big function right now.

Please fix this camelCase! It's really distracting... It should be next_frm
and cur_frm.

Do these defines belong here? This is rather board specific. They also do
not seem to be used.

Comment isn't in standard format with *'s on the side. If you split this
into multiple functions like Hans suggested it wouldn't be indented so
much.

It is supposed to be all of them. If there are any I missed let me know so
I can fix it.

All XXX_fmt_vid_out methods will only be called with fmt->type equal to
VIDEO_OUTPUT. You don't need to check.

Don't need this check.

Rather than fail if the format requested isn't acceptable to the driver,
you should modify the requested format to something that is. For example,
if you need an even number of lines and they ask for an odd number, reduce
the number of lines by 1 instead of failing.

Another save index, memset, restore index sequence that isn't needed.

If 'a' isn't unsigned, then (0 == ((a) & 7)) will be more efficient. For
unsigned values the compiler should be able to make the transformation to
using & instead of %, but not for signed.

If you put the larger fields first the structure will be padded less.
